Accountability in Action
Building Ownership & Speaking Up
"Being responsible gets the job done; being accountable gets it done right."
A two-day HRDC-claimable workshop for frontline leaders — supervisors, team leads, junior managers — the population where commitments either land or slip. Built on the distinction between Responsibility (task ownership) and Accountability (outcome ownership), with practice-led training in the conversations that hold the line.
Day 1 — Leadership Foundations. From role clarity to coaching communication. Includes the three-tone framework (directive · corrective · coaching), structured practice of tough conversations, and the Cepat dan Tepat principle — prompt and precise.
Day 2 — Accountability in Action. Lean thinking + mindset shift. Includes the Workflow Simulation Challenge — a three-level game that demonstrates what shifts when accountability becomes shared. Each participant leaves with a Personal Change Commitment Map (one specific shift, support needed, timeline, named accountability partner from the cohort).
Format: 2 days · on-site preferred (Penang, KL and others) · 10–25 pax · HRDC claimable · EN, 中文, BM phrases woven in
Training philosophy
Five principles that shape every workshop
Effective SME management = achieving results through people + strategic alignment.
- Application over theory. Learning calibrated to SME realities — small teams, lean budgets, founder-adjacent decision-making.
- Progressive development. From execution to strategic leadership, the curriculum builds upward through three tiers.
- Coaching mindset integrated. Every skill block is taught through a coaching lens — not as instruction, but as inquiry.
- Practical tools, immediate application. What participants leave with goes back to work on Monday morning.
- SME realities, not enterprise abstractions. Tools and frameworks sized for teams of 5–50, not Fortune 500 case studies.
SME Leadership Development
Eight topics across three tiers · A progressive curriculum from execution to strategic leadership · All HRDC claimable · Topics commissioned individually, as a tier-bundle, or as a multi-tier programme
Beyond Accountability in Action, the broader practice runs an eight-topic SME leadership curriculum across three tiers — calibrated for frontline leaders, middle managers, and senior managers. Each tier serves a distinct organisational layer; together they form a leadership pipeline an SME can grow into over years, not weeks.
Tier 1 — Foundational · Execution Excellence
Frontline leaders · Supervisors and team leads · Where execution lives
Topic 1 — Job Delegation & Monitoring
Assign tasks clearly, monitor progress, ensure accountability in SME teams.
Outcomes: tasks executed with clarity and consistency · reduced duplication and errors · improved productivity through effective delegation.
Topic 2 — Effective Communication: Process, Skills & Tools
Communicate instructions, feedback, and updates using structured methods and practical tools.
Outcomes: clearer team coordination · fewer misunderstandings and rework · enhanced trust and collaboration across departments.
Tier 2 — Essential · People & Performance Management
Middle managers · The bridge between strategy and execution
Topic 3 — Mentoring & Coaching as a Manager
Guide, support, and grow team members through mentoring and coaching practices.
Outcomes: stronger employee engagement and retention · increased confidence and capability among staff · a culture of continuous learning.
Topic 4 — Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Analyse challenges, evaluate options, and make sound decisions under SME constraints.
Outcomes: faster resolution of operational issues · reduced escalation to senior management · more innovative and practical solutions.
Topic 5 — Managing Performance (MBO-Based)
Set measurable objectives, track performance, and align individual goals with SME business outcomes.
Outcomes: clear accountability and performance standards · improved team productivity and morale · direct contribution to revenue and growth targets.
Tier 3 — Strategical · Strategic Leadership
Senior managers · Where SME strategy is made real
Topic 6 — Strategy Mapping
Translate SME vision into actionable strategies and align resources effectively.
Outcomes: clear roadmap for SME growth · better alignment between departments and business goals · reduced strategic drift and wasted effort.
Topic 7 — Annual Hoshin Planning
Structured planning methods to set annual priorities and cascade them across SME teams.
Outcomes: focused execution of key initiatives · stronger alignment between daily operations and long-term goals · improved adaptability to market changes.
Topic 8 — Coaching Conversations for Strategic Thinking
Use coaching techniques to foster strategic thinking among teams.
Outcomes: emerging leaders capable of handling complex challenges · reduced dependency on top management for decision-making · sustainable leadership pipeline for succession.
Beyond the eight-topic curriculum
- Self-Management & Productivity — supplementary topic for individual contributors and new managers
- Bilingual / multilingual workshop adaptations — most topics can run in EN, 中文, or bilingual with BM phrases naturally embedded
- Custom programmes — by enquiry, scoped against your team's actual context (mixing topics across tiers, multi-day formats, multi-cohort rollouts)
All offerings HRDC claimable where applicable.

Why this training survives Monday morning
让培训不在周一蒸发的四个设计原则
Pre-work that actually gets read. Short. Specific. Role-relevant. Delivered five working days before the workshop. If the pre-work is generic, the workshop spends Day 1 morning catching everyone up. We don't.
Practice over theory. 60% of workshop time is rehearsal, not slides. People don't change behaviour from hearing about behaviour — they change it from rehearsing the new version with feedback in the room.
Integration plan, not just slides. Each participant leaves with a Personal Change Commitment Map — one specific shift to apply at work, written in their own words, with support needed, a timeline, and a named accountability partner from the cohort.
Optional follow-up coaching. Booked separately. This is where the work usually breaks — the workshop ends, the team disperses, the integration plan stays on a slide. Follow-up coaching (1–3 sessions, group or individual) is the difference between a workshop that happened and a workshop that changed something.
